Country life has been quite a change and a challenge for me as I grew up in the Southern California cities and freeway grid locks. My first visit to the Cottonwood and Red Bluff areas was 17 years ago. I was immediately captivated by the western rural community lifestyle and Victorian flavored small town atmosphere. The picturesque Sacramento River with the majestic sights of the snow covered Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen as background were too much to resist. It served to be the start of a great relationship. A number of subsequent visits later the desire to return to the crowded and hectic atmosphere of Southern California vanished. Even with the challenge of dealing with wells and pumps, septic and leach lines, farm animals and wildlife, I had discovered a renewing way of life. It was the ideal place to call home.

Today, no less than 17 years ago, I continue to enjoy my lifestyle in the Cottonwood and Red Bluff communities because I learned very early to appreciate what a truly special lifestyle this wonderful environment has to offer local residents.

 In reading the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us,” I never lose sight of the fact that happiness and satisfaction in life is within every ones reach if you keep trying to make needed changes in your life. This is what brought me to Red Bluff and its surrounding communities. It’s what makes me aware to include time for writing and reading of poetry, bike riding and playing racquetball at the gym. When you stop trying, you lose. This winning attitude and determination to succeed has formulated my personal and professional philosophy in life –“the only time you lose is when you never try.”

The desire to help people continue trying to improve their lives is one reason I became a realtor.
